The starry night – Vincent Van Gogh
The starry night is one of Van Gogh’s most famous works. He painted it in 1889 while he was confined to the sanatorium of Saint-Rémy de Provence by heart, that is, almost invented. It is housed in the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA).
Van Gogh writes to his brother Theo:
“This morning I saw the country from my window a while before dawn, with nothing but the morning stars, and it seemed very big.”
