Valley of the Yosemite by Albert Bierstadt

Reproduction painted in oil on canvas of “Valley of the Yosemite”, an oil landscape that Albert Bierstadt painted in 1864.

The work is the product of the sketches and studies he made on his second trip to the west coast of the United States. Yosemite that he painted on numerous occasions. Albert Bierstadt thought he had discovered Eden on Earth.

Some historians think that this work was a study of “Looking Down Yosemite Valley, California”, which he painted a year later, in 1865. And they think it because it was painted on cardboard, and with measures of 30.16 cm × 48.89 cm, measures smaller than usually used by the artist.

It is located in the “Boston Museum of Fine Arts”, Massachusetts.
