The Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo da Vinci
Oil reproduction on canvas of “The Virgin of the Rocks” by Leonardo da Vinci. The genius of the Renaissance painted two religious paintings with the same motif and the two with the same title.
The first to which the image of this product of our gallery belongs, painted between 1483 and 1486, is in the “Louvre Museum”. The Brotherhood of the Immaculate Conception commissioned Leonardo to make this work part of a polyptych for a chapel in the church of San Francesco Grande in Milan. The work was sold to Louis XII because Leonardo’s clients did not like the painting.
The work measures 199 x 122 cm.
The second was painted to replace the previous one, this version is in the “National Gallery” in London.
In Copiamuseo, you can find this work in various sizes.
