Sunset on the Seine in Lavacourt, winter effect by Claude Monet
Oil reproduction on canvas of a seascape painted by Monet in 1880, “Sunset on the Seine at Lavacourt, Winter Effect”.
Lavacourt is a town in the Paris region and on the banks of the Seine, where Monet went to live in 1878. He painted more than 20 works in this period, although the winters were particularly cold, and we know that he went out to paint in the open air.
Typically impressionist, with a loose brushstroke, and with the sun well placed in the composition, this work reminds us of the famous “Impression, Sunrise” of 1978.
It can be found in the “Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris“.
The original measures 100 x 150 cm.
