This work gave its name to the Impressionist movement. In the middle of the 20th century it became one of the most famous in the world.
With a loose brushstroke, and a simplification of the drawing, plus some complementary colors such as intense oranges against the cold blue tones of water, make it a masterpiece.
This work was stolen from the museum where it is today, the Marmottan-Monet Museum in 1985 and recovered in 1990.
The original measures 48 x 63 cm.
