Art in your home
Pierre-Auguste Renoir was born in Limoges (France) in 1841. Famous impressionist painter who began decorating porcelain vases and fans. He studied at the School of Fine Arts and at the same time at the Charles Gleyre Academy of Painting where he met other impressionists of the time such as Monet, Bezille and Sisley. He painted the nude a lot, and cheerful motifs, parties, meals, dances, perhaps everything he couldn’t enjoy.
He suffered the last 25 years of his life from servera rheumatoid arthritis. In order to paint he had to manage with easels with pulleys and he tied his brushes to his deformed hands. In fact, a few hours before his death he was painting a still life with fruit that his son and filmmaker Jean Renoir had brought him.
He died in 1919 leaving an impressive artistic legacy.
