Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian was born in Amesfoort (Netherlands) and died in New York in 1944.

He worked as a schoolteacher, a period he combined with painting. He painted mostly landscapes of Holland. In 1912 he moved to Paris, where he could see the cubist work of Picasso and Braque, and was immediately captivated, influencing his painting in a very important way. In 1921 he began to create his most famous style, works with straight lines, and squares and rectangles of primary and uniform colors.

In 1940 he moved to New York, influencing this motif in his work.
