Paul Gauguin

Paul Gauguin was a French painter born in Paris in 1848. Still a child his family moves to Peru where he will spend his childhood, but they return to France after the death of his father.

He dropped out of school and became a merchant seafarer, then became a stockbroker and successful businessman. In 1882, the stock market collapses and is when he devotes himself to painting full time. From this point on, it was a period of poverty, as he had no buyer for his paintings. He abandoned his family.

She lived and worked in Tahiti, where her most famous paintings, such as “Women of Tahiti”, are from.

He died in the Marquesas Islands alone and drunk in 1903.
