Max Liebermann

Jewish painter and engraver born in Berlin in 1847.
Although at the beginning he painted traditional scenes and landscapes, Liebermann led modernism in Germany for 30 years, and of course was a representative of German impressionism. Although he studied law and philosophy, in the end he opted for painting, which he studied in several countries.

He was president of the Prussian Academy of the Arts.

Even today, works stolen from Liebermann during the Second World War are still being returned to his heirs.

He died in Berlin in 1935.
