Gustave Caillebotte

Gustave Caillebotte was a French painter born in Paris in 1848. He began painting in the workshop of the academician Leon Bonnat, and later passed the entrance exam to the School of Fine Arts.
Gustave Caillebotte brought to Impressionism as much or more than the well-known Monet, Renoir or Degas, although he was always the eternal unknown. The paradox is that he was a patron of his Impressionist contemporaries, helping them financially and in the organization of exhibitions, as he inherited a significant fortune from his father. He participated in the second Impressionist exhibition with several works, including his most famous work, “The Parquet Cutters”.
He died young, at the age of 45 in Paris, leaving a great artistic heritage to the French government.
