Édouard Manet

Edouard Manet was a French painter born in Paris in 1832. He is considered the father of Impressionism, although his work is difficult to classify. In life he was heavily criticized, it is easy to understand why an artist who began to take steps towards modernism, and introducing himself in the nude quite frequently, was criticized at this time. He had to wait until the end of his life to achieve the success he so deserved and sought.

There is one fact that we like to comment on, and that is the fact that Manet travelled to Spain in 1865 and discovered Baroque painting, and especially that of Velázquez, of which he was fascinated.

Another interesting fact is that he had a close relationship with Monet. He adopted the impressionist techniques, although he never participated in collective exhibitions with them.

He died in 1883 at the age of 51.
