Impressionism

Impressionism is an artistic movement that emerged in France in the second half of the 19th century, and which of course spread throughout Europe.

It was a question of capturing a reality on the canvas, but in a different way than it had been painted until then. Looking for light, using intense tones, and sometimes imperfect drawing, they sought visual impact. One way to explain impressionism is to quote Manet: “I paint what I see, not what others want to see”.
